INDIA-Maneka Sanjay Gandh, the Indian Union Cabinet Minister for Women & Child Development who was hospitalized on Wednesday evening hours after celebrating World blood donation day after a short illness has died.
She died while on re-admission at the hospital on Wednesday night.
According to the report released by Indian local media houses,the animal rights activist, 60, was on 11th June discharged as a strong woman but the problem triggered which took her life on arrival to hospital.
The women and child development minister was admitted to AIIMS on June 2 after she complained of stomach pain while on a visit to her constituency Pilibhit.
She had been diagnosed with gallstones, underwent surgery on Sunday,9th June at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.
Maneka is the Indian Union Cabinet Minister for Women & Child Development in the Government of PM Narendra Modi. She is also an animal rights activist, environmentalist, and widow of the Indian politician Sanjay Gandhi. She has been a minister in four governments, and has authored a number of books in the areas of etymology, law and animal welfare. Maneka Gandhi is a member of the Nehru-Gandhi Family.
