International communities led by United Nations(UN), North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and others have expressed the need of a new Nigerian President after the current President Muhammadu Buhari is unable to conduct Government business following his health condition.
Speaking during G7 summit meeting attended by USA President Donald Trump, UN and NATO representatives said Nigeria has suffered for long in absence of President Buhari and asked Nigerian Supreme courts to swear in the acting President Yemi Osinbajo as the official President for Nigeria.
“We have been following Nigeria Government business and it is clear the country is not fully represented. Prof. Yemi Osinbajo should not be called ‘acting President’ Nigeria Supreme courts should put Osinbajo in power before the country’s business collapses”. said Jeff Martinez, an UN representative.
On his part, President Donald Trump gave Nigeria seven days to officially name Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as the formal President otherwise United Nations will stop its services in Nigeria.
“We advise Nigerian relevant authorities to officially remove Buhari as their President and install the acting President, we want smooth government business. We are giving them one week to officially announce Prof. Yemi Osinbajo as their President failure to that UN and US will consider cutting her ties with this African country.” said Donald Trump
